The Children’s Sledge Hockey League with support from the Charitable Foundation of Elena and Gennady Timchenko announces an education project called “Sports and Social Journalism School” for children and teenagers seeking to grow in the area of sports and socially oriented journalism. Admission to the School is by competition.
The course is designed for four months and consists of a series of online lessons on the chosen specialisation, self-study, homework assigned by teachers and defence of a graduation thesis. The classes are taught by professional journalists, sports commentators, sports programme presenters and sports channel anchors, and directors and videographers of federal and state media.
The School attendees can choose a major from five options:
“Reporter” – a course in live reporting, “Sports commentator” – television [journalism], “Through a lens” – a course in photo and video, “Social journalism” – about blogging and the art of storytelling, and “Internet journalism” – about news reporting and the major genres used by web agencies.
The School’s best students, who have completed their course of study and successfully defended their thesis, will get a chance to do a placement and will be invited to have a work experience at the press centre of the 3rd HOCKEY FAMILY FEST All-Russian Disabled Hockey Festival, which will take place in April 2021. The organizers will pay the School graduates’ costs of travel to the Festival’s venue as well as accommodation and board for the duration of the event.
